Peru's
National Society of Industries (SNI) recently participated in a high-level program held in Miami, Florida, with the U.S. Government to strengthen public-private cooperation in addressing the risks associated with El Niño phenomenon.
The SNI, represented by its chairman, Felipe James Callao, promoted Peru as an attractive destination for U.S. investment.
The industrial association's head was part of the Peruvian delegation that participated in the climate summit, "El Niño Disaster Preparedness Planning Meeting," held at the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) headquarters in Doral, Florida.
During this public-private forum, technical experiences were exchanged. Response and prevention plans were also coordinated to address the potential impacts of El Niño.
Likewise, cooperation mechanisms between the public and private sectors were discussed, along with technical exchanges with specialized U.S. agencies, including FEMA and NOAA, in order to strengthen response capacity and reduce the socioeconomic effects of extreme weather events on the productive sector.

Peru as an investment destination
As part of this agenda, the SNI and ProInversion participated in "Peru is Open for Business," a major economic promotion event held aboard the B.A.P. Union sailing training ship in Miami.
The meeting —organized by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy— aimed to promote the South American country as an investment destination and generate new business opportunities with U.S. businesspeople and investors.
The event presented Peru's macroeconomic strengths, business climate, and a strategic portfolio of investment projects.
In this regard, ProInversion presented opportunities mainly in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, critical minerals, mining, and agriculture, through projects that include Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modalities.
In turn, the SNI presented investment opportunities in high-potential industrial sectors, such as advanced manufacturing; pharmaceuticals and biotechnology; Textiles 4.0 and technical apparel; shipbuilding and shipyards; aerospace and drones; and data centers and digital services.
Furthermore, it highlighted opportunities in agribusiness and cold-chain infrastructure; green hydrogen; metalworking and machinery; as well as advanced logistics and multinational fulfillment services.
The SNI's participation in this international agenda reaffirms the industrial association's commitment to promoting new investment, internationalizing Peru's industry, and forging strategic partnerships with public- and private-sector stakeholders in the U.S.
Moreover, the joint presence of Peru's public and private sectors in Miami helps strengthen the country's position as a competitive investment destination.
It also opens new opportunities to attract capital, technology, and expertise to drive Peru's industrial and productive development.
