The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday affirmed that her Government is working hard to reduce social gaps in the country, as well as to serve the poorest and most vulnerable population.

"We are working hard to reduce the gaps in poverty, hunger (…)," Mrs. Boluarte said during the inauguration of the XI Social Inclusion Week.

Within this framework, the top official thanked Parliament for the responsible work to serve the country's most needy citizens.

"From here, I want to thank Congress for the responsible work it and the Executive Branch have been doing to be able to meet people's needs," she said.

The Head of State mentioned that these are years of oblivion, but underscored that her administration has a multidimensional approach to confront poverty and make low-income people visible.

Moreover, the president indicated that in 2024 higher budget will be allocated for the Contigo (With You) social program in order to incorporate more beneficiaries to the registry.

Similarly, the top official highlighted the increase in resources for the Pension 65 and Juntos (Together) programs.

Regarding education, she indicated that 2023 will be closing with 10,000 scholarships.

The Head of State also said the Government plans to take the Peruvian State presence to the jungle's most distant areas and offer school transportation on small boats, in areas that cannot be reached by Itinerant Social Action Platforms (PIAS).

Mrs. Boluarte ended her speech by reiterating her call for a frontal fight against corruption so that every Sol (Peruvian currency) allocated for social programs, ministries, regional and local governments is invested properly.

"I know that we can go down in history as a decent, suitable, and responsible administration, as well as transparent in terms of management," she concluded.
