announced on Sunday evening that her administration will this week submit a request to Congress for delegated legislative powers to fight crime in the country.
"We are going to take strong and very tough measures. That is why the approval of the delegated legislative powers being submitted this week is important," Fujimori stated in a livestream on social media.
The Head of State stressed that the Government is addressing urgent problems while also seeking to strengthen Peru in preparation for heavy rains and potential droughts.
"It should be noted that the Government that submitted its request for delegated legislative powers the fastest did so in 44 days; we are going to do it in less than 30 days. What is important here is to submit a broad request that is well explained and well supported," Fujimori noted.
"The Government is already making several decisions. This week, Luis Galarreta's Cabinet will be submitting the request for delegated legislative powers, and we will also continue traveling across the country," she added.
At another point, the President emphasized that she will go live on her social media accounts every Sunday to engage in dialogue with the population and report on the activities she has carried out during the week.
"I try to respond to the national press, television, radio, and newspapers, but most young people get their information through social media, which is why it is important for me to connect with them on Sundays through these livestreams," she underscored.
Specifically, the Head of State summarized her recent official activities, highlighting the christening and launching ceremony of the BAP Chimbote, a vessel that will be essential to emergency response efforts related to El Niño phenomenon.
"It puts us in a better logistical position, allowing us to respond to emergencies. Thus, it was exciting to take part in the christening of this great vessel and to share not only with Navy members, but also with Navy Industrial Services (SIMA) workers, who made its construction possible," she pointed out.
