The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, stated on Wednesday that his administration will increase investment in preventive healthcare, stressing that this is the best public policy to address said sector.

The Head of State made the remarks while leading the launch of vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) at Meliton Carvajal School in Lima's Lince district.

The top official highlighted the presence of Cabinet members from different sectors at the event, noting that their attendance underscored the importance of this government initiative aimed at protecting children and young people against the virus.

"And we do so with the conviction that there is no better public policy in healthcare than prevention," Balcazar stated.

The President emphasized that the main diseases humanity has faced were fought through medical prevention.

The Head of State noted that the government has allocated a significant amount to HPV vaccine doses.

Similarly, he assured citizens that his administration will not cease to invest in health policies throughout his constitutional term in office.

The President added that his government has requested oversight from the Comptroller General's Office in the international tender for the vaccines, in order to prevent complaints over alleged irregularities.

"None of that will happen with us," he pointed out.

Moreover, the top official called on parents to encourage minors to get vaccinated and reminded citizens that the virus affects both women and men.

"We must cooperate by educating young people so that they get vaccinated," Balcazar stated.

"I repeat, and I will not tire of saying it: we will invest more in prevention than in treatment. So, young people, parents, families, thank you very much for welcoming us, and we will remain here to continue investing more and more in medicine and healthcare," he concluded.
