Peru's President: We have a clear conscience and act in accordance with the law

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday affirmed that he —as a witness— answered all the questions posed by the Attorney General's Office about the Armed Forces promotion process, noting that the Government is acting in accordance with the law.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the Head of State noted that, in accordance with his constitutional duty, he received representatives of the Attorney General's Office at the Government Palace and answered the questions asked as part of the preliminary investigation carried out by the Public Ministry.

"We show our face, we do not flee the country, nor take refuge in an embassy; we have a clear conscience, we act in accordance with the law and the commitments made to the people," he stated.

Precisely, President Pedro Castillo held a meeting with members of the Attorney General's Office at the Government Palace in Lima, the Press Secretariat of the Presidential Office reported.

The event saw the participation of Mr. Castillo's attorney, Eduardo Pachas, as well as the team of prosecutors led by Deputy Supreme Prosecutor, Ramiro Gonzalez —Coordinator of the Constitutional Complaints Section at the Attorney General's Office.
