During her second working visit to Chupaca Province,
stated on Friday that the Government is fulfilling its commitment to the population affected by the earthquake and is doing so by working as a team.
The Head of State highlighted that the Ministry of Housing has already begun the process of issuing property titles and constructing temporary housing.
Likewise, the top official announced the arrival of an ambulance and 20 classroom modules to resume classes, one of the population's main requests.
Furthermore, through the Labor Ministry's Llamkasun Peru program, temporary employment will be provided to the local population for reconstruction work in the affected areas.
Another of the Executive Branch's actions is the restoration of cultural assets damaged by the earthquake, including the church in Chongos Bajo district.
"I want to convey my solidarity to the affected families. We are here, and we are going to respond. The Government's commitment is to work on this reconstruction process," she expressed.
The top official indicated that these actions are possible thanks to the teamwork undertaken alongside State ministers, regional and local authorities, as well as the support of the Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police.
"This is teamwork," she pointed out after expressing her solidarity with residents injured by another earthquake recorded the previous day.
The President announced that the Ministers of Health and Housing will remain in the area to attend to the population's needs.
"That is what we want—public officials traveling, working, and, above all, being present during the most difficult moments," she pointed out.
Restored relations with Mexico
Speaking to the press, the President highlighted the restoration of diplomatic relations with Mexico, as it is a brotherly nation of Peru with which both countries share many years of history.
"We are very pleased that Peru and Mexico have restored their diplomatic relations. We are brotherly nations, friends, with a history of many years of friendship," Fujimori stated from Chongos Bajo district.
"As I said before taking office, restoring those relations was one of our objectives, and that is what we conveyed to Foreign Affairs Minister Espa," she added.
"As I have already said on several occasions, we are going to have a government that is very institutional and fully respectful of the rule of law. Therefore, under this principle of respect for the rule of law, and in accordance with international law, it was appropriate, and that is why we acted in this way, for the government to grant safe-conduct to Ms. Betssy Chavez," Fujimori explained.
The Head of State underscored that the aforementioned decision has been very well received by the Mexican Government.
"One does not look at political affiliations; one acts in accordance with the law," Fujimori stated.
The top official said she hopes Peru's ambassador to Mexico will be appointed in the coming days and that Mexico will likewise appoint its ambassador to Peru.
Later, the President estimated that the text of the request for delegated legislative powers to be submitted to Congress will be ready next week.
The Head of State also said she hopes there will be a broad debate on the matter.
The President was accompanied by Ministers Mauricio Arnillas (Housing, Construction, and Sanitation), Jose Antonio Chang (Education), Luis Dyer (Health), Marco Antonio Vinelli (Agrarian Development and Irrigation), Juan Sheput (Labor and Employment Promotion), and Alberto Beingolea (Culture), as well as regional authorities and various mayors.
