affirmed that the Government boosts the promotion of peace, multilateralism, and the defense of democracy for the benefit of all citizens in Peru.
Remarks were made by Mrs. Boluarte during the ceremony on the occasion of
Europe Day. This event was held at Lima Art Museum on Tuesday evening.
"Our stance is clear; we must join efforts and work together for a sustainable peace linked to the defense of common values and principles, such as the strengthening of multilateralism, respect for territorial integrity, unrestricted respect for international law, as well as the promotion and defense of democracy and human rights," she underlined.
The Head of State indicated that one of the major challenges facing the world is the war that currently takes place in Europe.
In this regard, Mrs. Boluarte reminded attendees that Peru and the
European Union (EU), as firm peace promoters, have condemned Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
"Europe and Peru are key partners; they are united by deep friendship ties," she emphasized.
President Boluarte stressed that the
Schuman Declaration —delivered on May 9, 1950— allowed the initiation of a historic integration process in order to overcome the ravages of World War II, as well as to build a European continent and a world at peace.
"This declaration not only laid the foundations for the European Union, but also made it possible to turn Europe into a developed, democratic continent, united by its values and culture, which is responding to the major challenges of the present and future," she said.
