The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, said a new era is beginning with the administration of President-elect Keiko Fujimori, which he hopes will be characterized by broad-based support and conciliation.

Likewise, the top official stated that each ministry is complying with its obligation to provide the corresponding information as part of the government transition process.

Following his meeting with President-elect Keiko Fujimori at the Government Palace, Balcazar said the protocol visit focused primarily on the government transition process.

"She came to visit us, as had already been agreed. It was a protocol visit. We discussed, above all, the transition process that is underway, and I told her that each ministry is complying with its obligation to deliver the corresponding information," he indicated.

The Head of State noted that his administration carried out several key projects during his five months in office.

He added that the incoming government will continue implementing initiatives for the benefit of the country.

The top official said the meeting also addressed the need for and the possibility that the President-elect's administration would be "a government of conciliation, with a broad base, capable of reaching democratic consensus in the country."

"I believe a new era is beginning. That is how I see it, and I have faith that it can happen because, for me, this is the most important historical moment for our president to take office. I wish her every success in her administration," he concluded.
