Peru's President to deliver over 240,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Cajamarca region

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo will deliver more than 240,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the region of Cajamarca on Tuesday, September 14.

This delivery will take place within the framework of the decentralized measures implemented by the Government to combat COVID-19 and strengthen the immunization and health care system, which is at the service of the population.

To date, more than 967,000 vaccines have been delivered to Cajamarca, and 927,000 doses are due to be supplied this month, of which 288,000 have already been delivered.

The Head of State is in Puña village (Cajamarca region), where he is set to meet with district mayors from Chota Province today.

On Monday, September 13, he is scheduled to participate in a ceremony marking the Day of Tacabamba Identity at Tacabamba's Main Square starting 8 a.m.

Afterwards, Mr. Castillo will take part in a recognition event organized by the Municipality of Chota, which will be presided over by Mayor Werner Cabrera.

Likewise, the top official will participate in the opening of the National Autonomous University of Chota and will take a short tour of the new facility located in the city's main square. The event will take place at 11 a.m. 

In addition, he will meet with more than 180 Chota teachers at the Teacher's House in said locality.

After that, the President of the Republic will meet with leaders of peasant patrols in Chota, as well as with Cajamarca Region Governor Mesias Guevara.

Finally, Health Minister Hernando Cevallos is slated to arrive on September 14 to receive the above-mentioned COVID-19 vaccines at Armando Revoredo Iglesias International Airport, along with the Head of State.

On Sunday morning, the Peruvian leader paid a visit to the educational institution 10465 in Puña village, where he served as teacher before becoming the Head of State.

During his visit, the President was accompanied by Transport and Communications Minister Juan Silva.
