Peru's President: Monitoring center is key to migratory security and intelligence

13:00 | Lima, Aug. 28.

The General Monitoring and Migratory Security Center will be a crucial step in strengthening citizen security, national security, and migratory intelligence in Peru, President Dina Boluarte stated on Thursday.

"This will give it greater capacity to prevent risks, respond promptly to incidents, and establish better coordination with the police, the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office), or the Judiciary to act immediately and in a coordinated manner at the first sign of a crime," she asserted.

In this regard, the top official said that this center is particularly relevant in a context where migratory flows have increased significantly, along with security threats such as human trafficking, smuggling, and organized crime.

According to her, this center will allow authorities to monitor what is happening at the country’s main entry and exit points, with interconnection to the regional Migration offices and the new Jorge Chavez International Airport.

"We are prioritizing joint action for Peru, with smart cameras and real-time surveillance," the Head of State emphasized.

The top official saluted the management of the National Superintendence of Migration for its efforts to ensure an orderly, safe, and regular migration, managed with vision, information, and responsibility.

This same responsibility is reflected across all levels of government to leave a better country, which today allows for a recovered and consolidated economy benefiting all Peruvians, she said.

The President stated that her government has replaced false hopes with concrete works and actions.

Likewise, it will continue steadfastly honoring its commitment to work honestly, "without stealing a single sol from the Peruvian people."

"Let us continue joining efforts because our homeland deserves a calm, sober, and responsible migration that respects our national territory," Mrs. Boluarte said.

"Let us keep working for the country, let us continue building that hope, but with (public) works and concrete actions. A promise made, a work delivered," she concluded.
