The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday pledged to continue supporting efforts towards democracy, stressing the need to walk together and hug each other to find the country's development path.

Moreover, the Head of State affirmed that "democracy is not defended with political calculation, based on deadlines and scenarios, or by looking at surveys when convenient."

Mrs. Boluarte made these remarks at the inauguration of Atalaya Hospital in the Amazonian region of Ucayali.

"The democracy must be defended with conviction because this is the only way and instrument to move forward, to generate progress and well-being while respecting everyone's rights," the President stated.

"I think all Peruvians must come together as one heart and as one hug, a hug that encourages us to walk together and hug each other to find the homeland's development path, Peruvians' development path," she added.

In this regard, the country's top official said that she will continue working in democracy, through open, fraternal, and collective dialogue, leaving intolerance and polarization behind.

Likewise, she underlined that her administration aims to be a democratic government that respects institutions and the Constitution and one that seeks greater investment, so that the population's needs can be better attended.

Intercultural hospital

With regard to the new hospital, the dignitary said this is the first intercultural hospital in Peru, where patients will be treated in their native languages, thereby respecting their ancestral traditions.
