The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday called on Peruvian citizens to be the best hosts during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum Leaders’ Week, and emphasized her call to show unity throughout said event.

In her speech at the launch ceremony for the Itinerant Social Action Platform (PIAS) "Rio Ucayali II," Mrs. Boluarte said this is an opportunity for us "to prove how hospitable we are and how committed we are to the country’s development."

"It is up to all Peruvians to unite responsibly without any distinction, thinking of the great possibilities that this meeting represents for our country," she expressed.

"This will lead us to strengthen our trade relations, generate more investments, and, therefore, foster progress and development for our fellow citizens," she expressed.

In this regard, top official called on Peruvians to "be the best hosts of APEC and ensure that when our guests return to their countries, they will take with them the best memories of how we have welcomed and treated them."

PIAS in action

The president visited the rainforest Loreto region to participate in the launch ceremony of the PIAS "Ucayali II," which, traveling along Amazonian rivers, will provide State-run services to the communities and districts of Ucayali region.

Mrs. Boluarte said that both this PIAS and the "Ucayali I" will travel through 20 towns in the districts of Requena and Ucayali, providing an average of 40,000 services of various kinds to approximately 3,000 people.

These include medical, laboratory, and pharmacy services; drug delivery; ID registration; financial activities; as well as affiliation with Social Health Insurance and social programs.

The president underscored that these services will be carried out "with an approach that respects and values the culture" of the indigenous communities residing in that area of the Amazonia.
