The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday affirmed that the incorporation of 452 new second lieutenants to the Peruvian National Police (PNP) will contribute to enhancing police service and reinforcing citizen security in a relentless fight against crime.

"You enrolled in the Police Academy after passing rigorous exams; today, you are part of this extraordinary graduation to go out and confront, without hesitation, crime that wrongly believes it will defeat us," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

The top official specified that the battle against crime will be won standing united, working effectively with mystique and love for the homeland.

"Thanks to this new incorporation of officers, we advance towards the goal of overcoming the deficit of active personnel, enhancing police service and reinforcing public safety," Mrs. Boluarte affirmed.

"I am confident that you will raise high the police institution's name and follow the example of national hero Mariano Santos Mateo," she added.

Before the new 452 graduated second lieutenants, the Head of State mentioned that the uniform they wear is sacred, represents authority, and deserves the population's respect.

Therefore, she said, it is their obligation to act firmly in the performance of duty, fighting against common and organized crime.

"From the Government, we will continue to ensure ideal conditions for high-quality police training, with a focus on specialization. Today, alongside you, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting you throughout your entire police career," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

Within this framework, the president called on the new officers to conduct themselves with perseverance, courage, honesty, and to respect the Peruvian National Police values, whose strength lies in the men and women who form it.

"Thanks to the 452 police agents transitioning to active duty, we continue responding in the fight against crime and criminality, in favor of the peace and tranquility demanded by Peruvians," she remarked.

Police operations

President Boluarte reported that the PNP has carried out more than 658,000 anti-crime operations nationwide so far this year, dismantling over 120 criminal organizations and 7,380 gangs.

Likewise, the top official said more than 148,000 Peruvians and over 9,000 foreigners have been detained for various crimes.

"To the members of those dangerous gangs, both domestic and foreign, we tell you that your days are numbered and we are breathing down your necks. These figures represent precise blows against those who seek to deprive us of our tranquility,” she expressed.

The ceremony also saw the participation of Ministers Juan Santivañez (Interior), Walter Astudillo (Defense), and PNP General Commander Victor Zanabria.

This event took place in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
