The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday stated that the Government is committed to progress and biodiversity, emphasizing the work of those who protect nature and develop projects that benefit Peru's development.

"I would like to express my recognition to all entrepreneurs. You are the example that by working together we can build a country with development and protection of our biodiversity," Mrs. Boluarte said during her speech at the event.

"Let us continue to walk together towards a free future in harmony with nature. You have before you a Government that is committed to progress and to our biodiversity, and we do so with clean hands," she added.

The President emphasized that her administration works honestly and seeks the population's well-being because "we are here to serve; that is why we are the Government, not to profit from the needs of our people."

"We will continue fighting for a better Peru (…) I mean, in this new project for entrepreneurs, women receive a 30% higher score in the evaluation. So, we invite more women entrepreneurs to join this project so as to change lives while caring for nature," she indicated.

In this regard, Mrs. Boluarte pointed out that the launch of the 2025 competition represents an initiative which highlights the key role of entrepreneurs in protecting biodiversity, as well as in building local and sustainable economic development.

"Besides, this initiative aligned with the Government's economic recovery policy axis and demonstrates that it is possible to achieve a balance between resource use and environmental conservation. With this competition, we support entrepreneurs who are committed to sustainable projects within protected areas," she stated.

The President also explained that this year S/4 million (US$1.55 million) will be invested to co-finance 83 new ventures, benefiting more than 2,000 families and offering economic opportunities "for a dignified and sustainable life."
