Peru's President gives account of agreements reached at Conasec's ordinary session

The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday gave an account of the agreements adopted during the 3rd and 4th decentralized ordinary session of the National Citizen Security Council (Conasec).

This event took place in the city of Pucallpa, Ucayali region.

All the above-mentioned agreements will be detailed below:

1. In the first session of 2024, the Peruvian National Police (PNP) will report on the results achieved by the regulatory amendments within the framework of the decrees approved by virtue of the powers granted by Congress to the Executive Branch to legislate on matters relating to prosecution and investigation of crime and to police organization.

2. The Council agreed to entrust Conasec's technical secretariat with the evaluation of Sinacec's results and organization with the proposal of a National Secretariat for Citizen Security.

3. It also agreed to entrust the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) with the articulation of actions and measures to implement a strategy of the National Digital Security Center.

4. Moreover, the Council agreed to entrust Conasec's technical secretariat with the execution of actions and communication campaigns to enable the delivery of clear messages against drug trafficking and illegal mining.

5. It also agreed to set up the Regional Committees for Citizen Security (Coresec), the Provincial Committees for Citizen Security (Coprosec), and the District Committees for Citizen Security (Codisec) in the first week of January, as established by Law No. 27933.

Said Committees will hold virtual meetings to review citizen security plans that have an impact on the corresponding localities. The results will be assessed in the first half of February.

6. The Council agreed to entrust Conasec's technical secretariat with the review of differential treatment of children and adolescents affected by sexual crimes and other forms of violence.
