The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Wednesday affirmed that Government's commitment to the education of Peruvian children and youth is solid and unwavering.

Remarks were made during the enactment of the law that establishes the creation of the National Autonomous University of Fine Arts and the Jose Maria Arguedas National University of Folklore.

"The commitment we have here to education for children, young people, and our culture is solid and unwavering; this year the economic stimuli allocated to culture, 2024 Bicentennial Edition, exceed S/36 million (over US$9.77 million)," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

Thanks to this investment, reaching a total of 200,000 people and promoting 9,500 indirect jobs during the execution of cultural projects is expected, she said.

Mrs. Boluarte indicated that the National Registry of Workers and Organizers of Culture and Arts (Rentoca) has more than 29,000 affiliates, of whom 25% are related to dance and folk music.

"Rentoca makes it easier for artists to learn about and access the services provided by the Culture Ministry and other benefits provided by the Government, such as Pension 65, the Comprehensive Health Insurance, or the National Program for Productive Youth," she said.

Moreover, the Head of State indicated that granting university status to both institutions constitutes "a historic moment," as well as a milestone in the Government's commitment to academic excellence, arts, and culture.

"Both institutions have been pillars in the training of art and culture professionals, and by becoming universities we will expand opportunities for more people," she added.

In this sense, the president urged the National Superintendence of Higher University Education (Sunedu) to grant licensing to both universities, "in the shortest possible time."

This event took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
