The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, reaffirmed his political commitment to advance the development of the new Central Highway "Daniel Alcides Carrion."

"My political will has already been made clear. Under my administration, before I leave office, the project will begin. For that purpose, we have S/600 million (about US$178 million) already committed. The work will not be halted and will continue," the Head of State said at the end of this event.

During the meeting, the Executive Branch committed to delivering a comprehensive solution for the infrastructure project, not merely ensuring its start.

In that regard, the top official said that before the end of his administration, a supplementary credit proposal will be prepared to ensure the highway's continuity and completion.

The Head of State emphasized that the project will benefit not only Junin region and the Central Macro-Region, but will have a nationwide impact by strengthening connectivity, energizing the economy, and improving Peru's competitiveness.

"Brothers of the Central Macro-Region, my political will has just been made clear. The S/600 million is secured, and it (the project) will begin under my administration," he expressed.

The working meeting was held throughout the morning and afternoon.

It included the participation of Congress' Second Vice Chairman Waldemar Cerron, Junin Region Governor Zozimo Cardenas; Economy and Finance Minister Denisse Miralles, and Transportation Minister Aldo Prieto, among others.
