The Presidency of the Republic reported that no clemency or pardon grant is pending or scheduled for individuals facing trial or convicted.

The message was issued through a public statement published on X and signed by the President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar.

"The country is informed that the agenda of the Presidency of the Republic of Peru does not include any pending or scheduled clemency grant, such as pardons, for individuals facing trial or convicted," the statement said.

Similarly, it specified that the clarification is issued "in order to prevent distorted interpretations regarding the constitutional mandate assumed upon taking the oath of office as President of the Republic before Congress."

"Our administration will be exclusively focused on ensuring national security; the holding of free, fair, and transparent elections; as well as the country's economic stability. That is all!" the public statement concluded.
