Peruvian Prime Minister Antero Flores-Araoz on Friday affirmed that he seeks to meet and talk to the members of all political parties before requesting a vote of confidence at Congress.

According to the Cabinet chief, he expects to meet as soon as possible with different members of parties in Congress.

"I will talk to each group first, and then, I will make my presentation to Congress," he told TV Peru.

He also remarked that various measures will be adopted under his administration in order to combat the pandemic and to reactivate the economy.

"This is a transitional Government, which will be in office for a few months. What this Cabinet is going to do is to administrate (the portfolios) as best as possible, amid an economic, labor, and pandemic crisis," he explained.

Regarding the repayment of contributions made to the Public Pension System (ONP), the government official expressed support for seeking a formula that helps favor such sector of the population.

Flores-Araoz stressed the need to have a pension fund for old age, but also to help people who have no money to pay for basic needs right now.

In this sense, he noted that his administration will assess a proposal without causing damage to the Treasury.
