As part of his presentation before Congress to request a vote of confidence on Thursday,
stated that the Government is committed to guaranteeing free, secure, transparent, and unquestionable elections in 2026.
"An electoral process with all the guarantees the country demands, including international observation and, above all, in an orderly and peaceful manner," he expressed.
To that end, Arana said actions have been taken, such as allocating funds to Electoral System institutions, and that the Armed Forces and the Peruvian National Police will ensure the free exercise of the right to vote, the protection of electoral officials in the performance of their duties, as well as the safeguarding of materials and documents.
Likewise, the Cabinet chief said that clear and mandatory provisions have been issued to ensure compliance with the duty of neutrality by all public officials and civil servants during the 2026 electoral process.
Moreover, Arana announced that, in order to guarantee the transparency and credibility of the 2026 General Elections, invitations will be extended to international observation missions to monitor the conduct of the process.
"In the name of the Government and our democracy, I call on the branches and institutions of the (Peruvian) State, political forces, electoral bodies, and society as a whole to start working now to safeguard and protect this process from any attempt at manipulation, interference, or delegitimization," he stated.
Before the plenary of Congress, the Prime Minister recalled that the Government, in compliance with its constitutional mandate, called for General Elections on April 12, 2026, so that Peruvians may freely and democratically elect their future authorities.
He also emphasized that this electoral process represents a fundamental step toward further strengthening and consolidating the democratic system—an endeavor in which all political and social forces must take part.
