The Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court declared unfounded the appeal filed by the Prosecutor's Office to revoke the resolution which had ordered the annulment of the preventive detention against Keiko Fujimori.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Fujimori's defense filed an appeal against the 15-month preventive detention imposed on her client, after the deadline.

Therefore, it should not have been admitted, the Prosecutor's Office underlined.

According to the court, the preventive detention order was issued orally at the hearing and appealed on that day by Fujimori's defense. Nonetheless, no notification of the resolution was delivered at that time.

It also specified that the period of three days to file the appeal should be counted from the receipt of the documents.

Under this premise, it considered that the filing of the appeal was conducted orally within the time limit established by law.

Thus, the Judiciary decided that there is no cause for appeal, and it must be declared unfounded.

The Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court is made up of Maria del Carmen Altabas, Ivan Sequeiros, Erazmo Coaguila Chavez, Norma Beatriz Carbajal, and Hugo Nuñez Julca.
