12:00 | Lima, Sep. 15.

A total of 3,567,470 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 will be distributed this week by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to 24 Peruvian regions.

These efforts will allow the State to close vaccination gaps and reach the largest number of people protected against the eventual third pandemic wave.

The latest delivery of batches began on September 13 and will continue until September 16.

It is in charge of Minsa's National Center for Supply of Strategic Resources in Health (Cenares) as part of the strategy implemented by the health sector to dispatch —in a decentralized manner— doses as soon as they arrive in the country.

Of the total batch of received vaccines, 2,556,770 doses correspond to Sinopharm, followed by 586,170 (Pfizer) and 362,730 (AstraZeneca).

Minsa affirmed that it complies with supplying vaccines to all Peruvian regions, in addition to joining technical teams of regional governments, so that these doses are administered promptly and adequately.

Likewise, the health sector continues working based on its strategy "Vamos a tu encuentro. Vacunate ya" (We will come to you. Get vaccinated now) to bring the immunization process closer to citizens, through the active search for people with a pending second dose in order to close gaps.

This mechanism involves reaching out to the country's most remote locations with the aim of ensuring the protection of people residing in Peruvian territory.

A total of 22,210,853 vaccine doses have been administered in Peru as of September 14 at 6:01 p.m. (local time). Within this framework, 9,053,762 people have received both doses.
