The Cabinet member recalled that he had spoken with the Head of State about the need to define a Cabinet "in accordance with the urgencies that we face in the country, to seek unity, but also to affirm the promises, the government design that he had proposed from the beginning and that, in my opinion, should not be missed."
Regarding the possibility that he becomes Prime Minister, Cevallos affirmed that he had spoken with the Head of State two days ago to evaluate different options.
"Beyond that, there has been no commitment," he said in statements to the press from Lima's Ancon district, where the "I take care of the sea, I take care of my health" Campaign took place.
Regarding the convening of a Council of State —as requested by Judiciary Chairwoman Elvia Barrios— the Health minister stated that said body does not have a decision-making capacity.
"What we need here is for the President to make a decision, in order to define the recomposition of the Cabinet, about a new Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the ministries continue working," Cevallos indicated.
On the other hand, the high-ranking official ruled out the existence of a parallel Cabinet within the Executive Branch.
In this sense, Cevallos affirmed that he mentioned to President Castillo the need to make the administration transparent so that doubts are not generated in this regard, and that he review the team with which he works and makes decisions.
