Economy and Finance Minister Alex Contreras on Thursday affirmed that his portfolio will propose structural measures to Parliament in order to boost the country's economic growth in the medium term.
"In addition to the very short-term agenda (Peru Boost Plan) put on the table, which will be key to the reactivation of our economy, we will propose structural measures thinking about Peru in the medium term and about the country that we want to have in five, six, and seven years," he said in remarks after leaving the Congress building.
The gathering took place at Congress' Chairmanship office and lasted approximately one hour.
"I appreciate Parliament's desire for dialogue, as it is important, having the good of the country in mind. We Peruvians are tired of the confrontation between the Executive Branch and Congress, and that is precisely what we have talked about," Contreras remarked.
The government official noted that the Executive Branch aims is to give a short-term boost at three levels: thinking about the affected families and MSEs, thinking about affected regions, and thinking about slowed-down economic sectors such as transportation, tourism, trade, and agriculture.
"Agriculture, in addition to social conflict, has been affected by an unprecedented drought. In this sense, we are achieving coordination at all sectors, and next Thursday we will announce the approved measures," he noted.
Moreover, the Cabinet member referred to a meeting with
Production Minister Sandra Belaunde and representatives of micro- and small-sized enterprises in a bid
to meet their demands and
agree on solutions.
"It is important that those who hold a position are in permanent contact with citizens and MSEs so as to make their problems our own and give solutions to problems in Peru," he expressed.
