Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer emphasized the importance of strengthening a more inclusive and resilient financial architecture, capable of providing timely responses to social, economic, and climate challenges.
At this event, the diplomat emphasized that the energy transition represents an opportunity to foster more sustainable economies that are less exposed to risks stemming from climate change and natural disasters.
The minister presented Peru's proposals to enhance the effectiveness of the global financing system in addressing the challenges of sustainable development.
In this regard, he called for progress toward a more comprehensive and multidimensional financing approach —one that goes beyond the sole criterion of per capita income and instead takes into account the structural conditions and vulnerabilities of middle-income countries like Peru.
The Foreign Ministry's head emphasized the need to intensify international cooperation based on principles of equity and good governance, promoting technology transfer, financing digital transformation, and fostering the development of an inclusive and resilient agri-food industry.
As part of his agenda in Seville, Schialer also took part in the Meeting of Ibero-American Foreign Affairs Ministers, reaffirming Peru's commitment to a more cohesive, resilient region with a stronger international presence.
Finally, the minister inaugurated the exhibition "Peru in Antarctica" at the Casa de la Ciencia Museum-Peru Pavilion in Seville.
The exhibit, presented through photographic panels, showcases Peru's scientific expeditions to the White Continent and highlights the South American country's commitment to scientific research and the protection of this region.
