During her speech,
Minister Gervasi reaffirmed
Peru's commitment to the fight against the world drug problem, based on the exchange of knowledge and good practices that complement different national experiences.
Within this framework, the diplomat indicated how Peru can contribute and share a history of concrete achievements in the eradication of illicit crops, the interdiction of drugs and their precursors, as well as comprehensive and sustainable alternative development.
According to the U.S. Department of State,
the coalition seeks to unite countries worldwide in a concerted effort to prevent the illicit manufacturing and trafficking of synthetic drugs, identify emerging drug trends.
Similarly, it seeks to respond effectively to their public health impacts.
Following the establishment of the
Global Coalition,
the United States will engage in consultations with participating countries to prioritize specific and concrete actions to address synthetic drug threats.
Through specialized working groups, members will develop innovative solutions, drive national initiatives, and elevate the need to address synthetic drugs as a shared global priority.
These gatherings will provide critical platforms to share progress and achievements with a wider audience and facilitate the advancement of international drug policy.
