Peru's FA Min meets with WEF Executive Chairman

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea on Thursday met with World Economic Forum (WEF) Executive Chairman and founder Klaus Schwab to whom he delivered President Dina Boluarte's invitation to attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Summit, which will take place in Lima next November.

Both of them underscored the importance of this event and the meetings set to take place within the framework of the aforementioned forum.

The WEF chairman stressed that, despite the current global context, economic projections are positive for the region and Peru.

They also addressed the cooperation provided by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to our country within the framework of the Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP).

The high-ranking official was a panelist at the high-level session titled "Catching up is hard - development strategies in a world of cascading crises."

In his presentation, the Peruvian representative highlighted the importance of cooperation to confront the challenges posed by the nascent disruptive era in the face of social governance fragility.

In this sense, the Cabinet member pointed out that to achieve the linkage of development, trade, investment and energy transition, it is necessary to understand the course of historical changes.

The Peruvian minister shared the session with Namibia's Deputy Prime Minister and Public Works-Transport Minister, John Mutorwa; Gabon's Commerce and SMEs Minister, Parfaite Amouyeme Ollame; Rwanda's Trade and Industry Minister, Jean-Chrysostome Ngabitsinze; Russia's Deputy Economic Development Minister, Vladimir Ilichev; and Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) Executive-Secretary, Jose Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.
