Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer referred to the invitation extended by United States Vice President J.D. Vance to President Dina Boluarte to visit the North American country, stating that this is a clear sign of the good spirit that exists in the relations between the two nations, which will celebrate 200 years on May 5, 2026.

In that regard, the Peruvian government official stated that the request to the Congress of the Republic to authorize the trip will be made once an agenda has been structured and the topics of discussion between both countries' authorities are known.

"Let's address this calmly and also in a professional manner, formalizing these matters through the proper channels, which are the foreign ministries (of Peru and the United States)," he said on Wednesday afternoon.

The diplomat also referred to the United States' travel advisory for its citizens visiting Peru and reiterated that it is not a ban, but rather a recommendation due to the security situation.

In this regard, the ambassador reaffirmed that the fight against insecurity is the main priority of President Boluarte's administration. He also called for maintaining social peace so as not to affect tourism.

The minister mentioned that they had spoken with his family and had also made contact with Ukraine's Ambassador to Peru, as Avila had a formal employment contract with the Ukrainian army.

Schialer stated that the family of the Peruvian national is requesting his repatriation in order to give him a Christian burial.

"We are making those efforts, and let Peru know, let the Avila family know, let Tarapoto know, that we will always stand up for the interests of Peru and Peruvians abroad," he pointed out.

"He (Adrianzen) is a high-caliber public official and, in the opinion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs I lead, absolutely suitable and capable of representing us at the UN," Schialer emphasized.
