Young Peruvian tennis player Duilio Beretta has climbed to the fourth spot in the latest International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior boys world rankings after reaching the semifinals of the 2010 Roland Garros Junior Championships in Paris.

The Arequipa native moved to 810 points with 570 points in singles and 240 in doubles.

Beretta booked his place in the semifinals of the boys’ event at the French Open last Thursday with a gruelling 6-2 6-7(2) 8-6 victory over Croatian Mate Pavic. However, he lost to eventual runner-up American Andrea Collarini 6-3 6-3.

In the doubles, 18-year-old Beretta and his Ecuadorian partner Roberto Quiroz won the title on Saturday after defeating the all-Argentinian combination of Facundo Arguello and Agustin Velotti 6-3 6-2.
