Peru's Deputy FA Min meets with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of Population

Peruvian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ignacio Higueras held a meeting with United States Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, Julieta Valls Noyes.

Both officials discussed the challenges that migration represents for host countries, as well as new initiatives to strengthen Peru's efforts.

The gathering took place on Thursday, within the framework of the International Conference in Solidarity with Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants and their Host Countries and Communities held in Brussels.

During said conference, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Higueras highlighted the efforts made by Peru to achieve the labor and educational integration of Venezuelan migrants and refugees in the country, as well as to improve their access to health services.

The diplomat also stressed that Peru —as the second host country for Venezuelan diaspora in the region— faces important challenges that require coordinated efforts by the Government, civil society, and the international community.
