Astrid & Gastón, owned by famed Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio, has just been named the best restaurant in Chile by the Guia Culinary 2010, based on a survey of restaurant goers.

The restaurant was honored for its varied and elegant menu, which focuses on authentic Peruvian flavors. Its dessert menu won first place in that category.

This is the second time that Astrid & Gastón -situated on Calle Antonio Bellet, 201, Providencia, Santiago- has scooped the prestigious Best Restaurant of the Year award in Chile.

In other categories, Doña Tina took the Best Chilean Restaurant award for the second consecutive year, Christopher Carpentier was named Best Chef of the Year, and El Otro Sitio bagged the Best Peruvian Restaurant award.

Gaston Acurio is one of Latin America’s premier chefs whose passion and innovation have elevated Peruvian cuisine, making it an exciting expression of the rich local culture.

The owner of several award-winning restaurants and host of his own television program in Peru, Acurio is married to German pastry-chef Astrid Gutsche, who helps him manage the internationally acclaimed Astrid & Gaston restaurant franchise.
