The Peruvian duo, composed of Ingrid Vargas and Katherine Miranda, achieved a bronze medal on Monday in women's beach tenniscategory, beating their Ecuadorian counterparts 6-1, 6-0 at the 1st Bolivarian Beach Games.
Vargas and Miranda overcame easily the Ecuadorian duo, composed of Ceccovilli Pino and Beatriz Ena, and recovered from their defeat on the eve against Chile (6-3, 6-2). The match was played at the Miraflores Theme Park.
The gold medal went to the Chilean duo, Francisca Echeverría and María Zúñiga, who beat the Venezuelan sisters Ninfa and Gesualda Marra, 6-0, 6-3.
With this result, the Peruvian delegation of this discipline gets its second bronze medal in the Bolivarian Beach Games since Iván Miranda and Jorge Panta, boys’ doubles, won the same award yesterday.
Closed the third round of this competition, the Peruvian delegation totals 7 medals (4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze).
