Via its official Twitter account, the government agency indicated that President Castillo had announced his
counterpart Ivan Duque and the President-elect that he will not be able to participate in the aforementioned event set to take place on August 7.
The Peruvian Head of State told both Colombian authorities that he will not attend the presidential transfer of power ceremony
due to a decision by Congress.
Via letters, Mr. Castillo expressed that Parliament's decision is not consistent with the very high value placed by Peru on its relationship with Colombia.
He also assured that both nations will continue to enrich the bilateral agenda, prioritizing the sustainable development of our peoples.
