— on Friday sent the Peruvian Air Force's (FAP) Guardian System to Colombia to help
The aforementioned firefighting system is a device capable of carrying a large amount of water to be released from the air. It gets attached to airplanes or helicopters, making it an effective tool for fighting wildfires.
A Colombian Air Force Hercules KC-140H aircraft collected the Guardian System components (200 water container kits and 3 ground container filling equipment items) from Callao Air Base in Peru.
Likewise, Colombian Air Force personnel received the respective training from specialized FAP personnel in the use of this firefighting system.
The Guardian System will make it possible to combat wildfires in the neighboring country, which has declared a red alert in almost its entire territory due to El Niño phenomenon.
This donation proves the bilateral cooperation to respond in a timely manner to natural disasters in both countries.
It also reaffirms its commitment and cooperative role in disaster risk management.
