Peru seeks to boost US$149 million in exports to Australia at mining fair

08:45 | Lima, Oct. 5.

Peru will seek to boost exports worth US$149 million to Australia as part of its participation in the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) 2026, the most influential international mining and resources event in the Asia-Pacific region, which will be held in Sydney, Australia, from October 25 to 29 this year.

According to the Study on the Utilization of the Peru-Australia FTA, prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), this figure represents Peruvian exports to the Australian market with untapped potential.

The study identifies opportunities related to precious metals, mineral resources, non-monetary gold, zinc ores and concentrates, as well as natural phosphates, underscoring the scope for expanding trade, investment, and cooperation between the two countries.

IMARC to bring together 12,000 participants

This commercial potential will be one of the elements underpinning Peru’s participation in the International Mining and Resources Conference + Expo (IMARC) 2026.

The event is expected to bring together 12,000 participants, more than 500 exhibitors, over 500 speakers, and upwards of 700 investors.

The event will bring together representatives from more than 120 countries, along with government officials from over 50 nations, making it a platform for connecting governments, mining companies, investors, and technology providers.

Key topics will include critical minerals, exploration, project development, access to capital, artificial intelligence, automation, the energy transition, productivity, sustainability, METS technologies, and water management.

Major mining companies to join Peru's delegation

The Peruvian delegation has already confirmed the participation of companies such as Antamina, Anglo American, Cerro Verde, Glencore, MMG Las Bambas, Ferreyros, and EY, along with other companies from the mining, energy, services, and industrial sectors.

It will be the fifth Peruvian delegation organized by the Australia–Peru Chamber of Commerce (APCCI), with participation from public and private institutions.

The Ministry of Energy and made official Peru's participation through Ministerial Resolution No. 260-2026-MINEM/DM.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also working with APCCI to strengthen Peru's position, promote the inflow of responsible investment, and deepen economic ties with Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

APCCI Heads to IMARC after celebrating its 14th anniversary

Peru's participation in IMARC follows APCCI's celebration of its 14th anniversary, consolidating its role as a business networking platform between Peru and Australia.

The Chamber, chaired by Carlos Castro Silvestre, currently has more than 180 members.

It seeks to continue fostering high-value connections among companies, investors, suppliers, and institutions from both countries.

APCCI has been coordinating Peru's participation in IMARC and bringing the country's mining sector closer to Australian capabilities in Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS).

Thus, Peru's participation in IMARC 2026 will seek to turn the US$149 million in commercial potential into new opportunities for business, investment, technology, and cooperation between Peru and Australia.
