The Ministry of the Environment (Minam) continues to strengthen the conservation, recovery, and sustainable use of the country's ecosystems by registering four new agreements in the Single Registry of Mechanisms for Remuneration for Ecosystem Services (RUMERESE), which together mobilize 1.9 million soles (approximately $ 560,000).
These agreements formalized in December 2025, are aimed at water conservation and the ecosystems that sustain it.
This process was led by the General Directorate of Environmental Economics and Financing (DGEFA) of Minam, which is responsible for administering, regulating, and supervising this national registry, as well as promoting technical instruments that channel economic resources toward nature protection.
Within this framework, the RUMERESE (National Registry of Mechanisms for Payment for Ecosystem Services) provides greater transparency and legitimacy to the mechanisms, as well as better guiding the State's technical support.
It should be noted that Mechanisms for Payment for Ecosystem Services (MERESE) operate based on voluntary agreements between those who benefit from the services provided by nature, such as water regulation and biodiversity maintenance, and those who contribute to their conservation.
Thanks to these agreements, concrete actions are financed to protect, restore, and sustainably use ecosystems, ensuring that these benefits are maintained over time.

Among the newly registered agreements is the one signed between the Regional Government of San Martín, through its Regional Environmental Authority, and the water utility Emapa San Martín S.A., which allocates more than 433,000 soles (approximately $128,000) to water regulation and soil erosion control measures, contributing to the protection of the watershed and the security of water resources in the region.
