The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) informs citizens that the delegates included in the officially communicated lists within the legally established deadline will participate in the selection of candidates from 37 political groups on Sunday, December 7 (the second date set for primary elections).

The ONPE reported that, according to the Primary Election Regulations, the central electoral body of each political group is responsible for communicating the results of the delegate election to the electoral authority.

The regulations also state that "the central electoral bodies have the authority to make final and definitive decisions regarding matters related to the determination of candidacies in primary elections, in accordance with their statutes and regulations."

It establishes that the ONPE "is not competent to resolve internal matters prior to the information that the political organization will provide regarding political organizations' primary election candidacies."

The electoral body also clarified that, in the case of Accion Popular (Popular Action Party), the delegates' names were submitted through the Primary Elections Registry by National Electoral Committee Chairwoman, Cinthia Pajuelo.

She had been authorized by her political party to access this technological platform.

It also reminded that last Sunday the ONPE organized the primary elections of Peruvian Aprista Party and Popular Renewal under the direct voting system, "one member, one vote."

The general elections will be held on April 12, 2026, with a potential runoff for the presidential race scheduled for June 7 of the same year.
