The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, said on Thursday that the government is promoting an inclusive policy with Peruvians residing in the southern regions to address their main needs and close historic gaps.

The Head of State stressed that his administration has an unwavering commitment to integrate the country through democratic dialogue, ending centralist policies and especially involving youth in the nation's future.

"When I arrived here, we put into practice what I had said. We started with Puno and now we are going to begin with Cusco," Balcazar said during the signing of cooperation agreements aimed at closing gaps in access to water in Cusco region, southeastern Peru.

The top official welcomed the commitment and political will shown by Cusco authorities to implement such agreements, stressing that they contribute to an effective decentralization and regionalization process.

After noting that the government is working to reactivate projects stalled for many years, President Balcazar said ventures such as the Southern Gas Pipeline will definitely be unblocked this month or next.

Likewise, the top official expressed his commitment to soon hold a Decentralized Council of Ministers meeting in Cusco.

The interinstitutional cooperation agreements signed today are part of an investment program aimed at helping close gaps in rural water and sanitation services in Cusco region.

The initiative links the regional government with 28 local governments.
