The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, on Thursday urged candidates who will participate in the upcoming 2026 elections to ensure the continuity of projects launched during her government for the good of the country.

"To the candidates, to those of us involved in politics, I say enough of the selfishness that has done nothing for Peru. Enough of questioning without justification and neglecting the (public) works that truly matter to our people," she said.

The Head of State indicated that during a campaign, one represents a political party, but once in office, one wears the jersey of Peru and, out of love for the country, must provide the best service to the citizenry.

"That is why, I am already calling on the candidates and those who will succeed us in office to commit to continuing the projects we have started. We are not finishing them, not because we do not want to, but because the construction timeline will not allow us enough time from now until July 28, 2026," she emphasized.

The President said she will leave an economically consolidated country at the end of her term in office (July 2026), so that there is no excuse to claim "no budget" and so that the gaps in multidimensional poverty and public security can be narrowed.

In this context, the top official also urged State ministers to advance the execution of projects in order to meet the targets and avoid resorting to contract addenda later.

"I leave this responsibility in your hands," the Head of State expressed.

"Let us continue working without distractions, focused on protecting our economy, which today is among the strongest in the region. And it is not President Boluarte saying this on a whim—there are international analysts who rate us this way, who see us like this; sometimes they even say they look at Peru with positive envy," she pointed out.

During the cornerstone-laying ceremony for the future 911 emergency center, the top official said she is aware that much remains to be done in the country due to decades of neglect.

With that in mind, the government will leave a development projection for Peru through 2040, Mrs. Boluarte added.

"We will present it to the entire nation; we will leave it so that the new government can continue on this path of development and growth, and address the needs of our population," she expressed.

911 Emergency Center

On another note, the President noted that the future 911 Emergency Center will have an investment of S/283 million (about US$79 million) and will be one of the most advanced response centers in the region.

Through this center, she explained, the emergency, urgent care, and information lines of the Peruvian National Police, the Mobile Emergency Care System (SAMU), the General Fire Corps, and the 100 hotline of the Warmiñan National Program will be unified under a single number.

"With this, we are prioritizing the lives and needs of our population, because not only will we save time in the services of first-response and information agencies, but we will also streamline the coordination and joint work of these institutions," Mrs. Boluarte asserted.

It will benefit over 10 million citizens in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region, where the project will have coverage.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications will be tasked with planning and implementing the entire system, taking into account the technical and operational requirements established by the first-response agencies that will operate in the 911 center.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior, through the National Police, will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the center, ensuring its continuity.
