The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday affirmed that he has come to the Government to fight historical gaps so that education and health are considered a right.

In addition, the Head of State affirmed that he is respectful of democracy and institutions.

In this regard, the dignitary stated that his administration will remain firm until July 28, 2026, "whether they like it or not, because that is democracy."

The President made the remarks during a meeting with discharged members of the Armed Forces at the Government Palace in Lima.

Mr. Castillo warned that there is an "ill intention" to go against his family, his mother, his daughter, his brothers, and his partners in struggle.

"If you want to get here, participate in a democratic scenario. The people should put you in power, do not force it. Do not break the institutional framework or democracy," he said.

In this regard, the top official underscored that some legislators are taking part in rallies and walks to break the institutional framework instead of promoting laws in favor of children and the health of Peruvians.

"Those who do not know the country and appear on screen have bothered the people. We will teach them what democracy is," Mr. Castillo said after clarifying that he has no intent to threaten anyone.

On the other hand, the Head of State expressed his critical view on a sector of the press, which —in his opinion— colludes with power groups that do not fight for Peruvians but for their own interests.

At the end of his speech, the dignitary gave recognition to the discharged soldiers of the Armed Forces.
