Peru: President receives credentials from ambassadors of Portugal, Russia, and Qatar

The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, received the letters of credence from the ambassadors of the Portuguese Republic, the Russian Federation, and the State of Qatar during a ceremony held in Lima on Friday.

The new envoys are Antonio Jose de Carvalho Barroso (Portugal), Alexey Anatolyevich Ushakov (Russia), and Abdulla Bin Jassim Al Zeyara (Qatar).

The official event was also attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Carlos Pareja.

It took place in the Government Palace Golden Hall. 

Background

Antonio Jose de Carvalho Barroso is a career diplomat who holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and a postgraduate degree in International Relations from the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences at the Technical University of Lisbon.

Throughout his career, he has held various positions within the European nation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign service.

Meanwhile, Alexey Anatolyevich Ushakov is a career diplomat of the Russian Federation.

He studied at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and joined his country's diplomatic service in 2000.

Ushakov has served at Russia's embassies in Latvia and Bulgaria.

He was also deputy director of the Human Resources Department at his country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For his part, Abdulla Bin Jassim Al Zeyara holds a degree in Administration and Economics from Qatar University and a professional master's degree in Business Administration from Gulf University.

He entered the State of Qatar's service in 1993 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010.

Throughout his career, he has served in the International Development Department of Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
