The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, led a meeting with authorities from Lambayeque region and Congresswoman Maria Acuña, the representative of that northern Peruvian region.

The meeting coordinated improvements in regional infrastructure, anticipating a potential boost to religious tourism due to the Pontificate of Pope Leo XIV and his eventual visit to Peru.

Last week, the top official announced that during her meeting with the Supreme Pontiff at the Vatican, she had invited him to make one of his first visits to Peru, especially to the city of Chiclayo in Lambayeque.

Additionally, during an event at the Government Palace alongside Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Desilu Leon, the Head of State announced the implementation of the tourism project "Paths of Pope Leo XIV."

The initiative aims to promote tourism and showcase the main cultural and religious sites where Robert Prevost carried out his missionary and bishop work in the Lambayeque region before being elected Supreme Pontiff.

The route would include sites of great historical and spiritual value such as the Chiclayo Cathedral, the San Agustin Convent in Zaña, the Divine Child of the Miracle Sanctuary in Eten, and the Cross of Chalpon Sanctuary in Motupe.
