The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday morning stated that the Regional and Municipal Elections taking place today must have the participation of all Peruvian citizens.

Via his official Twitter account, the Head of State highlighted that it is a democratic event which will allow the election of new authorities in districts, provinces, and regions.

Likewise, the top official affirmed that the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru will provide citizens with peace of mind to exercise their right to vote.

"Let's participate in these 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections," he added.

The candidates for mayor of Metropolitan Lima are: George Forsyth (We are Peru), Elizabeth Leon (Front of Hope), Omar Chehade (Alliance for Progress), Daniel Urresti (We can, Peru), Gonzalo Alegria (Together for Peru), Rafael Lopez-Aliaga (Popular Renewal), and Yuri Castro (Free Peru). They are joined by candidate Maria Soto —the only member of the Go on Country party list.
