Peru: President attends solemn session for Lima's 491st Anniversary

The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, on Friday participated in the solemn session marking the 491st anniversary of Lima's founding.

The Head of State presided over the ceremony alongside the capital's Mayor Renzo Reggiardo.

Also attending the event were Prime Minister Ernesto Alvarez, along with other authorities.

This ceremony was held at the municipal government's headquarters.

During the solemn ceremony, a minute of silence was observed in mourning for the deaths of two workers from the Municipal Strategic Projects Support Company (Emape).

They died recently in a multi-vehicle collision at kilometer 17 of the Panamericana Sur Highway, in Lima's San Juan de Miraflores distrct.

The capital city marks its founding anniversary on Sunday, January 18.
