The Presidency of the Republic on Wednesday afternoon issued a statement that rules out and absolutely rejects false versions related to the vaccination of the Head of State, Francisco Sagasti, confirming that he had received the first COVID-19 vaccine dose on February 9 this year.

Below is the statement in full:

Regarding the versions circulating on social media related to the vaccination of the President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti, the Presidency of the Republic deems it necessary to make the following clarifications for the public opinion:

1. As is known, the President of the Republic received the first dose of the Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 on the night of February 9 this year, along with the health staff at the Central Military Hospital, following the publication of Ministerial Resolution No. 194-2021-MINSA, through which he was included in Phase 1 under the heading "Vaccination Phases" of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19.

2. In this sense, the Presidency of the Republic rules out and categorically rejects such versions, which seek to discredit the work undertaken by the Head of State.

3. By reaffirming its firm commitment to the transparency of its actions, the Transition and Emergency Government —led by President Francisco Sagasti— keeps working tirelessly on the negotiations with various laboratories to secure the vaccines for all Peruvians.
