Peru: Presidency highlights environmental education’s role in responsible development

The Presidency of the Republic issued a statement on Monday to mark World Environmental Education Day, underscoring its importance in fostering development and safeguarding natural resources.

"On World Environmental Education Day, we underscore that environmental education is a fundamental tool for protecting our natural resources and fostering responsible development for the country and the planet," the Presidential Office expressed via social media.

World Environmental Education Day is observed every January 26, with the aim of raising public awareness about environmental challenges and natural resource preservation.

The Ministry of Environment also highlighted the occasion, noting that the sector contributes to this effort by fostering the development of a citizenry committed to environmental stewardship.

"Today, Peru is moving forward with 28,534 educational institutions that have achieved notable environmental accomplishments, six nationwide campaigns that promote improved environmental behaviors, and 1,042 municipalities implementing the Educca Program across the country," the government agency stated on X.
