At a meeting with companies and cooperation agencies organized by the
presented a portfolio of sustainable housing, water, and sanitation projects aimed at fostering dialogue on collaboration and investment opportunities to help close gaps affecting millions of Peruvians.
During the working session, which was also attended by Deputy Housing and Urban Development Minister Alfredo Lozada and sector officials, Arnillas raised the need to identify capacities and investment opportunities that could help drive more projects for the benefit of the Peruvian population.
The Ministry of Housing proposes replacing a situation of illegality and informality that condemns millions of Peruvians to precarious living conditions and years without basic services with a model of formal, adequate housing in which the State promotes housing equipped with all basic services.
"We have many investment opportunities to change the way lower-income families access housing," Arnillas indicated.
In turn, French Ambassador to Peru Nathalie Kennedy highlighted the strength and depth of the ties between the two countries, as well as the presence of the main cooperation agencies from her country.
"This demonstrates that France is fully committed to strengthening this bilateral cooperation dynamic for sustainable cities," she emphasized.
On the other hand, the meeting heard that Peru requires an estimated investment of S/120 billion (about US$35.05 billion) by 2030 to close gaps in potable water and sewerage services.
In addition, Sedapal has a portfolio of S/43.4 billion (about US$12.68 billion) in projects through 2056 to expand and improve services in Lima and Callao. Its projects currently under construction alone require an investment of S/2.391 billion (about US$698 million) and will benefit 1.3 million people.
The portfolio presented includes projects to expand water and sanitation networks, build treatment plants, improve drainage systems, and strengthen water security in different regions of the country.
