During this event, the government official will preside over Peru's tripartite delegation to the ILC, where he will present the South American country's progress, achievements, and policies in the fields of labor, employment promotion, and social security.
The conference will bring together workers, employers, and government representatives from the ILO's 187 Member States.
Meeting with ILO Director-General
During the meeting, the Cabinet member praised the third ILO report presented by Houngbo and proposed that the fourth report include the formalization of off-payroll self-employed workers —a priority issue for Peru.
In turn, the Director-General called on Minister Maurate to join efforts in addressing the challenge of labor formalization and acknowledged his leadership in the region.
High-level Agenda
The Peruvian government official will also hold meetings with senior officials of the organization, including Mia Seppo, Assistant Director-General for Employment and Social Protection, and Manuela Tomei, Deputy Director-General for Governance, Rights, and Dialogue.
Similarly, he will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Latin American countries, including the ministers of Labor of Uruguay, Brazil, Panama, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and Chile, thus strengthening regional cooperation on labor issues and the exchange of best practices.
Annual Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice
During this event, the MTPE head will take part in sessions on promoting a just transition through social dialogue.
Key Topics of the Conference
The 113th ILC will address issues of particular relevance to the world of work, including normative discussions on protection against biological hazards and decent work in the platform economy, innovative approaches to tackle informality and foster the transition to formality, in addition to the ILO's tripartite contribution to the Second World Summit for Social Development 2025.
A special event will also be held as part of the World Day Against Child Labour, where the minister will take part in a thematic panel.
Strengthening Peru's leadership
Minister Maurate's participation in these high-level events strengthens Peru's leadership in the international labor arena and helps highlight the collaborative initiatives the country is promoting in support of social justice.
