Peru is preparing for the entry of six new international airlines and an increase in flight frequencies starting in 2026, Transportation and Communications Minister Aldo Prieto stated, noting that the national market continues to position itself as one of the most attractive in the region.

The government official announced that the South American country is holding advanced talks with airlines such as Fly Level, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, and the Lufthansa Group. This will allow for expanding international connectivity and consolidating Peru as an increasingly competitive regional hub.

He detailed that Fly Level plans to begin operations with the launch of the Barcelona–Lima–Barcelona route. It will strengthen the direct connection between Peru and Europe, expanding options for passengers, tourism, and foreign trade.

Furthermore, Minister Prieto noted that the collection of the Unified Airport Use Fee (TUUA) for international transfers at Jorge Chavez International Airport, in Lima, has not affected the interest of new airlines in entering or expanding their operations in Peru.

As an example, the Cabinet member indicated that Copa Airlines plans to increase up to 49 weekly flights starting in January 2026. Likewise, it has expressed interest in further expanding its presence in the Peruvian market.

He added that Air France will increase the frequency of its flights on the Paris–Lima route, rising from seven to ten weekly flights starting in June 2026, while various trade delegations and exploratory missions are evaluating new opportunities for air connectivity with Peru.

The minister also highlighted that just in December new international routes were inaugurated, such as Lima–Iguazu operated by Flybondi, as well as direct flights to Toronto and Montreal operated by Air Canada, and to Salt Lake City by Delta Airlines.

"Each new flight frequency generates around 300 direct, indirect, and induced jobs, boosting the economy, strengthening tourism, and creating more opportunities for Peruvians," he pointed out.

Lastly, he recalled that the sector has been modernizing airport infrastructure in Peruvian regions through the TUUA transfer fee fund, highlighting the project to accelerate the Chiclayo Airport modernization, with the aim of boosting economic, tourism, and productive competitiveness at the national level.
