17:00 | Huanta (Ayacucho region), Sep. 14.

Agents of the National Police of Peru's Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro), who serve in the Tactical Anti-Drug Operations Section (Depotad) in Huanta, seized 530 kilograms of cocaine alkaloid that were being transported in a modern vehicle on the Huanta–Huancayo route.

A Toyota Fortuner was abandoned by its driver following a pursuit by police, at kilometer 336 while it was on its way to the city of Huancayo —Junin region capital.

During the search, Dirandro police agents —supported by the Highway Police— found 19 black polyethylene bags inside, which contained brick-type packages that allegedly had cocaine inside.

Everything found on the scene —including the vehicle under license plate No. AEO-339— was taken to the Depotad Huanta by order of the Public Ministry representative.

Later, it was determined that the load consisted of 472 brick-type packages whose Scott test showed a turquoise blue color —positive for cocaine alkaloid— and its gross weight was approximately 530 kilograms.

The drug's destination was the city of Lima as smugglers unsuccessfully attempted to circumvent police controls along the entire route from the VRAEM (Valley of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers) to the nation's capital.

Operation in Megantoni

It must be noted that Dirandro dealt another severe blow to drug-traffickers in the Alto Picha area, Megantoni district (Cusco region), by seizing 411 kilograms of cocaine.

Afterwards, in less than 48 hours, the latest achievement was made possible by seizing 530 kilograms of cocaine alkaloid in Huanta province.
